Code of Conduct

The following hopes to be a short glimpse in what our kinship is all about, a fast way of understanding the way people interact here and are expected to. They are all guides, the only Rule we have though, is: * Respect, kindness and consideration to fellow members, yourself, the Lotro society and have fun!

1. Language.
When interacting with other kinship members it’s expected to speak or type English. Native languages can be spoken or typed on non public channels such as chat rooms or private messages. This also applies to fellowships when there are people who cannot understand the language that is spoken. Unless OK/Agreed upon by all members in kin chat or fellowship group. A officer can give permission to this as well. Please do not be afraid to ask if it makes it easier to communicate with someone in a group. This is a international kinship, but we must have a main language and these small considerations to maintain order, respect and understanding of one another.

2. Behavior.
Pangea is an adult kinship, with adult principles and beliefs. Our primary belief is that as adults, we should have the maturity to keep our conversations and behaviors respectful to our peers. This also means beware to those that use speakers that children or others can hear. It is not this kins responsibility to censor what it says because you let children or others listen in on a adult based group, rooms or server conversations. That is YOUR adult responsibility.

Pangea does not condone nor condemn off-color language, nor do we wish to police this area, but we will act if you or someone else is out of line with whatever measure officers see fit. Just turn your profanity filter on or change the channel if you can’t handle what is aloud or if someone has gone overboard and a officer is not there to deal with the situation. (Racial, sexual, national, political and religious insults are not accepted in any way, shape or form), this also includes obvious but non direct harassment as an officer feels fit to view it. Pangean’s are expected to defend their own. Being a member of Pangea means you are part of a family. Do not sit idly by if someone is bothering or harassing a kin member, whether it be an outsider or fellow kinsman.

Remember, not everyone will understand your jokes between two or more people, so try to express that you are joking with one another so there are no misunderstandings. Kin members will, from time to time use profanity, or tell the occasional off-color joke. We believe that allowing our members the freedom to speak how they feel is important. On the other hand, there is a fine line between "Adult" and "Disrespectful" or "Degrading" and we hope our members stay on the "Adult" side of the line. Should any member feel uncomfortable with any language in kin-chat, then we do ask that you contact an officer or with your concerns through personal tells or mails. We will do our best to mediate the situation. Bottom line: Let's all act like adults, and respect one another in this regard.

You should agree to treat all members with respect and fairness, in game, personal tells, mails or on the forums. If you can't say something nice and debate any issues without personal attacks, you will be asked to abstain. If a resolution between the parties cannot be reached, impartial mediation is suggested - just contact a kinship officer.

We have a wide political, social and religious spectrum represented in our kin, so be extra careful at times about touching sensitive issues. Also, this bears the responsibility that you forgive others who by mistake hurt your feelings or beliefs.

3. Interaction.
It’s recommended for members to interact as much as possible with each other. Either by grouping up for quests (similar levels), working on deeds or books etc. If questing and grouping up with kinsmen isn’t available, and finding a group for those hard quests or fellowship ones on the /lff = (Looking for Fellowship) channel and /glff = (Global Looking for Fellowship) channel. (Join by using: /joinchannel glff -enter- then type /1 –spacebar- to type) fails also, you can try asking in kin chat or by a tell if there is any higher level available and willing to give a hand. When sending a tell or asking in chat rooms, make sure not to harass by spamming you tells or mails. And if still you have no luck, just move on. Don’t waste your time doing nothing when you can just come back to it.
*We have to keep in mind though, that getting from 1 place to another in this massive game takes a while and it’s frustrating at times, also players might be working on things that can’t allow them to quit and come help, respond in kin chat or to tells. It’s nothing personal and you must understand this. People have lives outside of game.
Helping each other is the best way to socialize and really be part of the group. If you got help from kinsmen you should remember to pay it forward - be that member who helps when they can.

Answering questions or Hello’s in kin chat is a MUST. Ignorance only gets you ignored. Still we all need to understand that many times people don’t see the chat: -fighting, afk, crafting, looting with rolls in a fellowship, OOC spam etc. Sending a tell helps. Better than that, joining our ventrilo channel helps even more (even if you don’t see chat you can still hear). Our ventrilo plays an important part in socializing without being in a fellowship (don’t need to have microphone to be there and hear others, but will help you to get to know them better), the sound quality is so much better than anything voice related. Ventrilo is not a requirement to communicate with or to be in this kin, but a very useful way to do so. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. xxx

4. Website Activity (OBVIUOSLY THIS SECTION IS BEING WORKED ON IN HOPES FOR NOW LOL)
We recommend that everyone would subscribe to (by filling out an application to be admitted) and use the kinship website as much as possible. Once your application has been accepted, please claim your characters only on the kin roster and use a name that an officer can verify you by that exists on the roster, preferably your main character. Do not try to add characters to the roster yourself, they will not update correctly, it auto updates. If not please contact an officer.

The kinship website/forums will be a big part of building the kinship and helping us to communicate with each other. Raid planner and event calendar that officers and YOU also can make dated schedules, are some of the most important tools you will need. Do not schedule a run/event/raid that you cannot commit to, be on time for, lead yourself or atleast have someone to lead with you aswell. If you are making a post to obtain assistance with something on a certain day, please make that clear and make sure it’s not something already scheduled on the calendar at a time you can attend. Also do not schedule something without enough notice and expect people to show. Ask an officer to put out a kin mail for you if needed. Remember, only the people available for that time schedule will be the ones showing. Sometimes there will be many, sometimes there will be few. This is the way of the world. So don’t be discouraged. We will also have pools (voting system) Screenshots section, guides, news and others. So, don’t forget to check and participate in the website/forums each day.

Please realize that it has taken a lot of time and work in order to provide accommodations to the kin site, so try to get involved! Communicate with one another! It is vital as well that you view any pertinent information such as news, changes to the guild, upcoming events etc. on our website. We try to utilize the message-of-the-day in game as much as possible, but it is very limiting. A lot of the news will be on the site only. Please try to view the website daily or weekly atleast.

5. Fair Trade/Kinhouse (ALSO BEING WOKED ON AND UPDATED)
Vaults Items offered to kinship members in our chat or on the website/forums is on an informal first come, first serve basis. If someone is kind enough to share their resources, recipes, etc. with you, all we ask is that you give back to the kin to the best of your ability. When claiming an item offered please consider one main criteria: your ability to use it! If a desired item is level(s) above your ability and goes unrequested after several offers, then you may politely request the item, acknowledging that you will be at that level very soon. It is up to the giver of the item to check the receiver’s level and agree to give it to them or decline to do so privately.

You should not, nor shall ever be, looked down upon if you auction items or trade/sell anything. Just please make sure they are not items given to you from kin members, and then sold/auctioned without their express permission to do so. Under no circumstances is it allowed to accept items offered up in kin chat or on Kin AH in order to pass them along to non kin members, or to sell them to an NPC or at the Auction Hall.

When it comes to the kinhouse vaults, you will not receive access till you have been promoted to Kinsman/Kinswoman. (minimal 7 days to be promoted) at officers discretion. The kinhouse vault rules are simple, if you put something in there, do not expect it to be there later, if you take something out, plan to put something back later. Kinhouse vaults are for consumable items such as foods, potions, mats ect that you feel like donating to the kin. Never feel obligated to do so. We extend a lot of trust to you that have access, so let’s keep this fair and useful to all by not taking all of what you see, only take what you can use in a reasonable portion (meaning don’t take all). Hit Ctrl+Shift and drag to inventory to split stacks. Once again, these items are for kin members only, not to be distributed to alts outside of kin or non kin members.

6. Inactivity
If you plan to be inactive for a long time please try to notify us. Players can be removed from the kinship if inactive for more than 6 months and have not provided any notification (under founders/leaders discretion).

7. Sanctions
We are not a Kinship that polices its members. We hope to never use this section, but any breach can be reported to the Kin Leader and/or Officers who will deal with the matter. The Officers are responsible for deciding how to deal with Members who break rules. Remember our main rule is respect. All members are responsible for reporting anyone breaking the Code of Conduct to an officer of the Kinship. Save any supporting documentation such as screen shots, mails, tells, emails, or chat logs. In some cases, mediation with an officer or group of officers may be necessary. If the complaint is founded as decided by the officers, then consequences may follow. If you leave Pangea by choice, please give notice to kin leader through mail or tellxxxx. If you do not then you will need permission from an officer to return to Pangea. If you are kicked out of Pangea for whatever given reason by an officer, this is permanent. If you feel you were treated unfairly, then contact the kin leader with a summary of the situation. If your ban is in question, a group of officers will meet and vote on the situation if you are requesting re-admittance.

*With these in mind we are confident that joining and being part of our kinship will keep you and everybody else happy, satisfied and directed towards the same goal. *To aid Frodo in the destruction of the Ring by assisting Grey Company and end the reign of Sauron in Mordor and his evil minions* :)
